WHCAA Death Announcement – Ms. Bertha Jones

memory

Ms. Bertha Jones

November 7, 1947 – October 16, 2017

Bertha M. Jones was born to Gracie Jones on November 7, 1947 in Huntsville, Alabama.  She was a born again Christian.  On October 16, 2017, God saw that Bertha’s body was tired and gave his final say; He wrapped his loving arms around our loved one, and whispered. “Bertha, come with me today.” From labor to reward, Bertha transitioned to eternal rest surrounded by her loving family.

Bertha matriculated through the Huntsville City School System and graduated from S.R. Butler High School in 1966. She continued her education at Alabama A&M University.  Later she was employed by Huntsville City Schools for 41 years until she grew ill in 2009.  She retired from Huntsville City Schools in 2010.

Though she was never married or had any biological children, she devoted her life to helping children, including her nieces and nephews.

Bertha leaves to cherish her memories: Her mother, Gracie L. Jones, a sister: Shirley Dixon; three brothers: William Jones, David Jones, and Steve Ewing; three uncles: Clarence Jones, James Jones, and John T. Jones (Ethel); two aunts: Leola Rice and Catherine Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

“Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us.

They live on in the kindness they have shared and the

love they brought into our lives.”

Funeral service was held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Potters Hand Church (983 Indian Creek Road NW, Huntsville, AL 35806) with Elder Eric Peeples officiating. Interment was in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.

Please keep the Jones Family in your thoughts and prayers.
